Jocelynn Matthews

Dancer

Jocelynn Matthews has a dance background in Ballet, Modern, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Liturgical, Afro Jazz, Contemporary, and African styles of dancing. She began her early dance training in Bowie, MD at the age of four years old. She is a high school graduate of Clinton Christian School where she established the first Clinton Christian School Dance Club.

She performed in over 100 productions of the live Christmas Celebration at Evangel Cathedral in Upper Marlboro, MD where she later became a choreographer for ages 5 to 12 years. Then, she became a Modern Dance instructor assistant at Dynamic Moves Dance Company where she taught children 4 to 16 years of age in the areas of Hip-Hop, Ballet and Modern dancing. Also, she taught at her alma mater, Clinton Christian School in the Enrichment Dance Department as teacher for two years. In Addition, she taught at Dancing for His Glory Dance Company and Studio for six years.

She presented her early-choreographed work in the DMV at numerous events and launched R.I.O.T. (Revival In Our Teens) Dance Ministry, which allowed students to learn techniques and styles of dancing inexpensively. Using her dance choreography experience, she created a benefit concert raising over 5k for Haiti. She choreographed and danced for motivational rapper, Motive, and the hip-hop group, Nerdy Swagg. She co-choreographed for So You Think You Can Dance National Dance Day in 2010. She performed in a lot of different local shows and on 106 & Park, a former hip-hop entertainment show on BET.

At present, Jocelynn is the dance lead and head choreographer of Victory Christian International Dance Ministries in White Plains, MD. She has been embracing her gift in dancing for twenty- five years and choreographing for twelve years. Plans on opening a dance studio soon and does not plan on stopping to fulfill the purpose God has placed on this earth for.
