Jennifer C. Alexander is a professional dancer, choreographer, dance educator and teaching artist. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee with a MFA in Dance Choreography and Performance. She holds a BA in Dance, with honors, from the University of Maryland (College Park), and a Post Baccalaureate Certificate – K-12 Dance Education from Towson University.

Her destiny with dance started at the age of 3 at Linda Natoli Studios of Dance, where she received training in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop and gymnastics. In addition, Jennifer also trained with the Maryland Youth Ballet, Dance Theater of Harlem Pre-Professional Residency, Dance Place, Knock on Wood, and DC Dance Collective. She has also studied in workshops and special residencies under Savion Glover, Vincent Bingham, and Bakarri Walker from Bring In ‘Da Noise, Bring In ‘Da Funk; Brenda Bufalino, Liz Lerman, Helanius J. Wilkins, Gesel Mason, Monica Bill Barnes, Alvin Mayes, Nejla Y. Yatkin, Troy Powell, David Rousseve and Keith Johnson.

Jennifer has had the pleasure to perform at such places as the Warner Theater, Dance Place, Lansburgh Theater and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in works with/under the direction of Next Reflex Dance Collective, Jane Franklin Dance, Jazz Is…Dance Project, Alvin Mayes, Tony Powell, Helanius J. Wilkins and Vincent E. Thomas. Currently, Jennifer is continuing to fully engage in her passion to teach, train, perform and create dance. Her current research focus is the integration of somatic practices & anatomy in the contemporary dance technique class. She is the Creative Director/Teaching Artist with Destined to Dance; Creative Arts Mentor for a Public School System in MD; and Principal Dancer with Light Switch Dance Theatre under the direction of Sandra C. Atkinson.

Jennifer also performs & creates with modern/contemporary dance companies in the DC Metropolitan area.
